a food interlude

This is in honor of Kevin.  It's three fold.  The dough, brussels sprouts, and foodgawker.com.

Sauteing onions & mushrooms, a house favorite pizza topping.

Brussles sprouts (needn't say more, but I will: the recipe is from foodgawker.com).  The brussels added to bacon, almonds, garlic, shallots & butter.

Square pizza shaped for our square pizza stone.

browned to crisped to perfection.

Ready for the oven

Crisp cheesy perfection.

Thank you Kevin.  It was all deliciouso.

some new obsessions

There are so many beautiful things in the world.
Micheal Anastassiades creates a lot of them.

I'm obsessed with this corner mirror

And all of his lighting.

More loves:
L'avia home website, and this lantern.

This beautiful handle.

baby it's been a while

mostly because there is not much to show.

YET.

It's been hard to make what we had work, so lots of arranging and ridding, and then re-arranging have been happening.
This is our non-arranged DR chandelier.  I've enlisted help.  One person's post is on a step stool, one a few steps back and then the switching of places ensues until both parties are satisfied with the arm balance.

This is our sofa showroom.  We are in the midst of getting rid of sofas.  Suggestions?

My kitchen workstation avec brussels sprouts from the farmers market.

One of the beautiful mid-century sofas.  To sell or to store?

What is with this manic TV watching station?  Send help!

At least I know one thing.  These fellas will hang on the wall where they are perpendicularly resting from.

I am sort of embarrassed, but I know that this place will get together!  It just goes to show: all of you looking for a designer to whip your place into shape: it can happen & you need help, but it is a process and not a magic pill.  Best of luck!  (To me too)

Move in part deux

In the testing out rugs stage.  Not sure what works best here in the kitchen.
Gonna live with them for a while.

This one works somehow, but it interferes with out back door.  Hmm.

Bookshelves are still awesome.
Getting organized is at a snail's pace.

Not yet organized den shelves & a terrible photograph (new iphone not mastered).

The plate on the ceiling indicates where our Moroccan lantern will hang.

Does Ellie the elephant table belong in the powder room?

The wire trash can certainly does.
Thanks Gustavasons/Olsens/Boardmans!

Do I really have the ubiquitous stump?  Well, yes. yes I do.  I'll find a corner for it to hide happily.

Move in part 1

We have been in le maison for an entire 8 days.  It's been the longest 8 days. ever.
Moving = opposite of vacation.
Some progress has been made, but it is by far over.  There are people working on each floor as I write this and I am not sure if I'm safe here on the island that is my bed.

Move in day.  The pillow pile begins.

Um.  I think I need one more small round side table.
In brown.

Getting the kitchen chairs in.  Great find.

Where will our walnut coffee table live?

Mattress delivery.  Between 2 & 5pm.  Or 6pm.  No, 7:30pm.  Thanks.

My Ikea figures.  I've cropped out the "?" bubble.

This PB rug from our old MBR works well in Finn's room.  Warning to neat freaks: it sheds. A lot.  Do not use on dark floors.  Hhmpf.

Blue sky through new skylight.

Crazy fixture part one.

Our beautiful chandelier that needs to be lowered.  Anyone know of someone who would retie some similar rope to extend this down?

Number 1.
