Peru

Finalized our trip to Peru this winter and I am so thrilled.  Coincidentally, this months fabric story in WOI featured amazing fabrics and photography from the country in it's Autumn Fabrics spread.

From Lima we will travel to Cuzco and take the Orient Express train to Machu Picchu

After exploring and meditating on this "lost city of the Incas," we will spend the evening at the Sanctuary Lodge for some R & R.  We will then spend New Years Eve at Tambo del Inka with an incredible spa.  I can't wait!

green velvet envy

October's World Of Interiors featured a flawless Georgian house in the Weald of Kent designed by John Minshaw, my new idol.  The opening double page spread featured a living room with clean walls and a beautiful white sofa adorned with De Le Cuona silk-velvet cushions in emerald and black.  The curves of the 1900 Steinway piano gorgeously reflected sheen to highlight the simple luxury of the entire of the scene.

He designed the recessed library bookcases, seen here, which are finished in Marston & Langinger's 'Roman Bronze'. The French Art Deco desk is from Magnus Antiques, and the 1930s Italian swivel chair was discovered at De Parma.

While I can't download all the images from this month's mag, I will share with you some images from his impeccable portfolio.  His minimal color palette is perfection.  I will use this as armor for any plea to the contrary.

Strong rich color, simple elegant shapes create crisp sophistication.
 Clean, minimal, perfect.

The contrast of the stone stair and the delicate legs & back of the settee reflects a refined vision.

This light fixture adds an amazing antique peridot green.  I can't get enough of the crisp black and white environment.

This exemplary entry is strong & simple.

C'mon.  amaze.

What I love about the kitchen: palette, of course.  Also the function & simplicity while not being cold.

 Gorgeous peak & details.

 Serene bedroom/bath.

 Casual elegance.

These chairs are so appealing.  The scene is flawless.

Rich walls.  This green really gets me.

painted stair

I've finally painted the runner on the stairs of the Orient cottage.  Yes, it took me an entire season to get the task accomplished.  Give a girl a weekend alone & sh*t gets done, finally.

Taped up the stairs with a 4.5 inch border

Second coat required & the edges need a little work.
 Nearly finished product:

Fashion Week

I'm obsessed.  I miss the buzz of NYC durning fashion week.  It's not that I was ever a fixture (or even a part of it, really), but somehow I felt it.  I did work in the biz & was lucky enough to attend a few tent shows (in the Bryant Park days).  I've been watching YouTube live runway and making shopping lists!

Also obsessed with green right now & have been on the hunt for green shoes.  Mind you, it's not just any green.  I'm liking it as an accent in interiors very much.  It's lush & rich when the hue is right.  Emerald, malachite, kelly and rich deep teal are catching my eye.  I think it started with a pair of earrings that I purchased last summer and I look forward to wearing them now through December.  Is this a temporary lust?
Here are some inspirations from Fall '12 & the currently happening Spring '13 shows.

I really admire the green chairs in the apartment of Barney's CEO, Mark Lee & Ed Filipowski, co-pres of KCD, a special events firm that produces fashion shows for some of the biggest names.

I'll let you know if I locate and incorporate green shoes into my fall wardrobe!  Better yet, we'll see if green makes it's way into some interior projects.
